To crown the activities for the year was the completion and commissioning of the Borehole water project for Ndiorie Ariam in Osoigwe community of Ikwuano LGA in
Abia state.
The borehole water project had been in the making since much earlier in the year. The project was designed as a reward for the community of the most active and outstanding member.
Our sister Adaigbo Carolyn Ugochukwu (PA to the Convener and Coordinator-Nigerian South West Chapter) who was among the nominees got the highest number of votes following the viewing of a video of the only water source in her hometown, a shallow stream of water which members of IWMW considered not only inadequate but also unhealthy for consumption.
Much as IWMW is challenged by resources and have to depend on members to fund and execute all projects, they were not daunted by the cost of providing this much needed infrastructure to Orie people.
A committee was set up to supervise, execute and deliver the project for commissioning.
Although there was a little delay in completion, the project was eventually commissioned on the 28th of December 2021and is now accessible to members of the community
The leaders and other members of the community turned out in their numbers and received the borehole project with a lot of enthusiasm and gratitude.
A commemorative thanksgiving mass was offered at the St. Michael Catholic church cathedral, Ariam on the 2nd of January 2022.
