Our Purposes

The prevention or relief of poverty [or financial hardship], for the benefit of  women, and families living in England and the Southeastern region of Nigeria (Alaigbo), and in particular women and families from Igbo communities by providing or assisting in the provision of education, training, healthcare projects and all the necessary support designed to enable individuals to generate a sustainable income and be self-sufficient.

2. To promote human rights (as set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and subsequent United Nations conventions and declarations) amongst Igbo Women and Family communities in the  , Southeastern region of Nigeria (Alaigbo) by
(a)    monitoring abuses of human rights perpetrated against Ndigbo;
(b)    obtaining redress for the victims of human rights abuse;
(c)    raising awareness of human rights issues;
(d)    promoting public support for human rights;
(e)    promoting respect for human rights among individuals and corporations through the promotion of ethical standards of conduct;
(f)    providing international advocacy of human rights and;
(g)    eliminating infringement of human rights, particularly in Nigeria.

 

3. To develop the capacity and skills of women and families from socially and economically disadvantaged Igbo communities in Southeastern region of Nigeria (Alaigbo), and immigrants from Alaigbo community, now living in the UK in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and to participate more fully in society.
