OHANEZE NDIGBO: TOWARDS FREE, CREDIBLE AND PEACEFUL HANDOVER
The Igbo Women Movement Worldwide is a credible socio-cultural organization that promotes and upholds the ideals and culture of the Igbo Nation and serves as a veritable rallying point and umbrella for all Igbo Women Worldwide.
In support of the profound efforts of the Ohaneze Ndigbo in promoting and preserving the Igbo cause, our Organization remains committed towards the preservation of the ethics and values of the Apex Socio-cultural Body that unites the entire Igbo Nation.
As plans enter top gear to effect a handover in Ohaneze leadership, we wish to state that the promotion of free and credible Elections and other political handover processes are pivotal to the sustenance and survival of the Organization. The most fundamental principle defining credible elections is that they must reflect the free expression of the will of the people.
To achieve this, we propose the elections should be transparent, inclusive, and accountable, and there must be an open and all-inclusive playing ground for fair Participation of all interested parties to compete in the elections.
Finally as the saying goes, behind every successful Man is a Woman; hence we call on the wives of every candidate seeking office into the Ohaneze Ndi Igbo Association to give full moral and spiritual support and good counsel to their husbands and the Organization before and after the elections.
We also call on the Imeobi of Ohaneze Ndigbo and all Elder Statesmen of the Organization to synergistically collaborate to ensure not only a free and fair election but also a smooth transition.
