Dr. Nkeiruka Nneti Onyia is from Isuochi in Abia State and a mother. She is a Post-Doctoral Researcher, Lecturer, and Entrepreneur. Nkeiruka is passionate about improving the representation of black women in the male-dominated STEM fields and to do this, she mentors young budding scientists through the United Nations Girl Up Foundation in Leicester, UK. She also serves on the IEEE-GRSS IDEA committee (http://www.grss-ieee.org/community/idea/) promoting and advancing the careers of African women and young professionals to help the prestigious society deliver on the laudable goals of equality, diversity and inclusion.
Dr Nkeiruka Nneti Onyia is a vibrant member of her local community having served as a Secretary for the African Catholic Chaplaincy Leicestershire and Catholic Women Organisation, Leicester for 8 years. She is also the only black member of the Board of Trustee of the English Martyrs Leicester Development Trust (https://www.forabetterschool.org/about) helping the local school raise and utilise funds to promote curricular and extra-curricular activities. She is a recipient of several awards in both her professional and personal endeavours including the winner of the 2019 Copernicus Hackathon and grants for research projects.
She enjoys travelling and have visited many countries in West Africa, Europe and the United States. She is the current Facilitator for the Igbo Bu Otu Europe Fundraising Committee and a member of the Igbo Bu Otu Women Group Leadership Team.

As an Igbo Mother, she is very concerned with the state of the Igbo Nation in Nigeria and the existential threat its faces daily from both internal and external enemies. She is totally committed to ensuring that the Igbo identity, culture and society is protected for herself and her future generations. This is why she supports wholeheartedly the Igbo Women Movement Worldwide (IWMW) as the Executive Director.
