Our Finance & Fundraising Department

Euros

By Adaigbo Loretta C. Awotile

As we all know, no organisation can run effectively on an empty purse.  For this reason, IWMW must find firm financial footing to be able to stand, organise, and execute plans of action. Every department of IWMW will need financial backup from time to time. Our ability to maintain proper financial records with transparency and trustworthy officials at the chapter and HQ levels is one of the keys to building a formidable movement.

Our commitment to our common objective should be backed up by our individual and collective monetary contributions. The way, manner, and time of such contributions will be determined by the leadership of IWMW.  However, we must bear in mind that monetary contribution should never be a determinant of members'  participation or involvement in any of our activities. All our activities will be coordinated from the central body i.e the HQ whereby all transactions will go through a proper channel of approval, with requests going from the lowest to the highest level and the approvals coming back through the same channel. This will help keep the activities of Chapters focused on our goal and also enable proper tracking, accountability, and record-keeping.

DUTIES OF THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT
The department will bear the responsibility of keeping financial records up to date, taking proper and dated account of all incomes and expenditures as and when they occur. It is proposed that all disbursements will be with the approval of the HQ.

Reports (frequency to be determined) will be forwarded to the HQ. The reports are to reflect all financial transactions carried out within the period under consideration and the book and bank balances of the chapter. All issues and questions that may arise from the reports are to be promptly addressed to avoid delays that may lead to distrust and disunity.

IWMW is careful and vigilant not to receive money that will compromise our position on matters that border on the reasons for the formation of this movement. Therefore, while it is possible that, going forward, we may find people/bodies willing to support us with donations, we must not allow ourselves to be cornered into compromising our demands, standards or lowering our voices.
